Planning the restoration of membranes in RO desalination using a digital twin

چکیده
This paper describes the development of a decision support system (DSS) for evaluating membrane restoration strategy. The engine DSS is digital twin (DT), virtual representation wear (degradation) and elements in reverse osmosis (RO) pressure vessel. basis DT mathematical model that an RO vessel as novel multi-component which wear-states individual (components) are quantified can be swapped or replaced. contrasts with contemporary presentation literature single system. We estimate parameters using statistical methods. describe our approach context case study on Carlsbad Desalination Plant California, suffers from biofouling due to seasonal algae blooms. Our results show good fit between observed modelled wear-states. Competing policies compared based risk, cost, downtime, number stoppages. Projections indicate significant cost-saving achieved while not compromising integrity plant.
